Refund Policy

Iris.Art runs on a subscription, not credits or one-off purchases. Here's exactly how cancellation and refunds work.

Last updated: September 7, 2026·v1.0 (draft — see counsel notice below)

Not legal advice. This document is a plain-language description of how Iris.Art actually works, written from the codebase rather than a template. It has not yet been reviewed by counsel — treat it as a working draft until it has been.

This policy covers the Iris Pro subscription, billed through Stripe. It's part of our Terms of Service.

The plans

As of the date above, Iris.Art offers:

  • Free — no charge, no billing relationship at all. Five lifetime compositions across all nine modalities.
  • Iris Pro — a recurring subscription, billed either monthly or annually, at the price shown on the pricing page at the time you subscribe. There is no free trial period. Automatic tax is calculated at checkout by Stripe based on your billing address.

There are no consumable credits, gift cards, or per-composition purchases in the current product — this policy will be updated if that changes.

Cancelling your subscription

You can cancel at any time, self-serve, from /accountvia the Stripe-hosted billing portal (“Manage billing”). Cancelling stops future renewal charges; per standard Stripe subscription behavior, your Pro access continues until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, not the moment you click cancel.

Refunds

We do not automatically refund a subscription charge just because you decide to stop using the service or forget to cancel before renewal. Cancelling prevents the next charge; it does not, by itself, refund the current billing period.

That said, we will consider a refund on a case-by-case basis if:

  • you were charged due to a billing or technical error on our side (for example, a duplicate charge, or a renewal that occurred after you had already cancelled);
  • the service was materially non-functional for you during the billing period in question (for example, the composition pipeline was broken and you couldn't generate anything you paid for); or
  • you contact us within a reasonable window — we'd suggest within 14 days of the charge — of an annual renewal you didn't intend to keep.

We don't currently publish a rigid day-count refund window for every situation, because we haven't needed one yet — a real person reviews each request. If you think this section should be more specific before launch, that's a decision for whoever owns this policy commercially, not something we're asserting here.

How refunds are issued

Approved refunds are issued back to your original payment method through Stripe. Depending on your bank or card issuer, it can take a few business days to appear on your statement.

Statutory withdrawal rights (EU / UK)

If you're a consumer in the EU or UK, statutory law separately gives you a right to withdraw from an online purchase within a set period — but that right is commonly subject to a carve-out for digital content or services that begin immediately with your consent and acknowledgement that you lose the withdrawal right by doing so. A recurring subscription that grants immediate access (which is what Iris Pro is) is exactly the kind of purchase that carve-out is meant to cover.

We are flagging this rather than asserting a specific legal position: whether and how that carve-out applies, and whether the checkout flow needs to capture an explicit acknowledgement of it, is a question for counsel before this policy is treated as final. Nothing above this notice should be read as a waiver of any right you have under EU or UK law that cannot lawfully be waived.

Billing problems

If a payment fails (for example, an expired card), Stripe will attempt to retry it and your account page will show a “payment failed — update your card” notice. Update your payment method through the billing portal at /account to keep Pro active.
